Heart Cath and general anesthesia

Post a new topicby vandouris on Sat Jan 12, 2008 1:15 am

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if they can do a Heart Cath under General Anesthesia. I have had trouble before with sedation and would much rather like General Anesthesia I will have this test on 1/15/2008 and would like to bring up my concern with the Dr. but if it just is not done then I don't want to bring it up and rather just hope that I don't again have a problem with sedation. Thanks, in advance, for anyone that replies in time for me to make a decision.

Hi Bob, I read your question after posting my question regarding angina. I had 3 heart caths since last April. I had no problems with the sedation. I remember each one but was sedated to the point that I did not care and actually slept during most of the procedure. You may want to discuss with your anesthesiologist. Your cardiologist may want to have you partially wake up during the procedure. Good luck and hope all goes well.
