Please HELP me6yrs ago i complained to my gp that i was getting chest pains in the sternum, my sternum was very painful to the touch and was told it was imflamed carledge ect,
a month later i developed periods of cold sweats, feeling sick with chest pain my doc told me nothing but sternum injuries! now iam a very active 49 yrs old guy i weight train 5 days aweek and was cycling 40 mls aweek and have done so for 25yrs now getting back to the cold sweats ect. these episodes got more and more frequ.... until the pain travelled down my arms, result was i had to have a stent fitted because of a blocked artery. all this was 6 yrs ago. now i still have my sternum pain which as been very bad, but last week i was on my cycle when i had a terrible crushing pain under my sternum, tevelling to throaT when i stopped the pain went, i called param... and they found no probs with heart trace, even though i still had a mild pain. sinse then i have had lots of times when i have been walking and this pain comes on! crushing pain, travells to my throat, when i stop still its goes away leaving my chest feeling bruised and tender.and as if i have been hit with a bat every time this as happened, i have heart trace and there is nothing abnormal showing. even has i type this i find that leaning forward makes my sternum ache bad! when i stand up it goes away leaving my chest feeling bruised and slightly tender. I DARE NOT GO TO HOSPITAL AGAIN AS THEY WILL THINK IAM NUTS!
Re: Please HELP meI have just joined this forum and am surprised at the little help that is given even though there are hundreds who view each post.
This may be late for you, but I will relate my experience. I am 76 years old and have been active ll my life. In all this time I have visited a doctor only once with a problem whwn I was quite young. I walk four or five km often and working in my farmplace I lift and carry 30 kilo bags of cement without a problem and push a wheelbarrow full of bricks up small inclines. About two years ago I found that my legs (upper) got tired and a doctor told me that I had a heart murmer.. I have had six monthly ecographs and have aortic stenosis which is now severe.... The problem is that I have no symptoms whatsoever, except sometimes a slight tightening at the throat. One set of doctors cry immediate surgery.... Others say wait for the symptoms. I have decided to wait for the symptoms...though I am uncertain of the consequences at my age. Anyway the point is that the tests with electrocardiograms, heart rate and blood pressure all showed as healthy. Only the ecograph showed the stenosis. My suggestion therefore is get an ecograph performed, because this pressure at the sternum may be indicative of a problem without other clinical tests showing a problem. Hope this helps
