Symptoms worse after an ablation procedureI underwent a cardio ablation procedure about 6 weeks ago to (attempt to) correct atrial fibrillation. I just found out about my condition this spring, along with the fact that I have an ASD. So, they need to correct the afib before they close the hole, and the procedure was scheduled quickly. It took five hours to isolate the veins. Atypical arrhythmia started up about 12 hours later. Now it’s pretty much a constant.
Since that procedure my afib symptoms are worse, including shortness of breath. I can’t walk fast or walk very far. I can’t lift or carry objects without suffering noticeable arrhythmia and gasping for air. Even when I bend over to tie my shoes I get out of breath. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is this part of the healing process? Can I expect to return to a more normal ability to move about? Thanks
Re: Symptoms worse after an ablation procedureI had the same experience after my 1st procedure....I just had my 3rd, and now feel fine....but it took time and patience and a second opinion from the Cleveland Clinic. Hang in there...and get a second opinion. Sometimes things do get worse before getting better.
Re: Symptoms worse after an ablation procedureIt turns out that I am not a good patent for beta blockers. My meds were switched (with weaning) to a calcium blocker and digoxin. Within a couple of days I was much better. I still have a few weeks before I find out what's next. Probably a cardioversion first, though.
Thanks
