Re: Terrified of hospitals & doctorsI'm new and just "browsing" some of the posts so I make a "late" reply.
I do not have a problem myself, I've even had open heart surgery, that took some adjusting to the idea.. I was terrified. But, I knew it had to be done or I'd face congestive heart failure in the next few years. I somehow got over it, and in fact remained "cooperative" as they shaved my chest and wheeled me into the surgery room. I know there's nothing here to specifically help you, but I can at least share I "know how it feels". Other than that I look forward to seeing a doctor, well maybe not the dentist, because I keep a positive/optimistic outlook. I always expect to get some good news, and on some occasions some bad news with the "silver lining" of "here's what needs to be done to keep you enjoying life". If you suffer from anxiety and are under treatment for that, including medications that help, I see nothing wrong with taking the medication when you have a doctor visit, but is important the doctor knows you are taking the medication, and may request not taking the med for some special tests or examination requirements.
