17 year old male with recurring Pericarditis

In June, my 17 year old son was helping bust concrete with a sledge hammer. The next day he started having pain in his ribs. I took him to the doctor and they said he had pleurisy. Then early July he presented with all the heart attack symptoms so I took him to the Emergency Room. They put him on a monitor, did a chest x-ray, echo, and EKG. The EKG showed some abnormalities and we were told that he had pericarditis The symptoms let up some finally but he still has symptoms every 10 days to 2 weeks- chest pain (only on the left), the school nurse can hear a rubbing sound near the bottom of his heart when this happens, shortness of breath, nausea, pain in his left shoulder. We've gone back to the cardiologist and their only answer is "the pericarditis should be gone by now, the EKG no longer shows anything and he's too young and healthy to have heart problems." In the meantime he's put on weight because he's not being very active because of the problem.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this and if so, what did you find out?

Please help! D
