leaky valves

Post a new topicby fryston on Thu Jan 15, 2009 6:33 pm

I am an 80-year-old who has had bypass and aneurism surgery in the past five years. It appears I now have leaky valves--for how long I don't know; it may be an ongoing condition. Because of my age and past surgeries, I'm not a candidate for replacement or repair. However, I am now experiencing more breathlessness than before. This does not happen all the time. I sometimes walk a slow mile on the treadmill just to get some exercise, and this doesn't necessarily cause symptoms. The doctor's advice is, "Just do what you can," which is good advice. I'm just wondering if anyone has further advice re diet and/or exercise for this condition specifically.
