Chest Pain radiates into Neck.

Post a new topicby Laura414 on Wed Jul 23, 2008 6:19 pm

My mother has been complaining about chest pains she has that radiate into her neck. She says after taking baby aspirins they go away. She is very wary of doctors but I feel she needs to see one. Could her condition be life threatening?

Your mom sounds like she might be like many other people, she just hates going to a doctor. If she hasn't seen one in awhile she could probably use a physical anyway.

The pain could be a symptom of something serious or not. Nebulous, transient pain is hard to evaluate from a description. How long has this been happening? Are there any other symptoms associated with the pain, shortness of breath and/or sweating? Does it happen in a particular posture, while she sleeps or exercises? Is it related to a particular body movement like lifting an arm or turning the head? Are their any nodular swellings in the area? There are a lot of things to consider which is why we have doctors in the 1st place.
