Chest Pain

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Aug 13, 2002 9:52 am

I am a 29 year old healthy woman. I have been experiencing sharp pains underneath my left breast bone that seem to hurt with every beat of my heart some are more painful than others. This has happened before a couple of months ago and went away. Now that it is happening again it has got me worried. The sharp pains take my breath away and makes it difficult to breath. The pain woke me up last night and seems to be more painful if I move. I have excercised at least 3 times a week for the last 2 years. I heard that it could be the muscles around my heart. But, if it is the muscles - why does it come and go? I have not changed my routine that much. I was also diagonosed with a fant irregular heart about 15 years ago - that the doctor said is nothing to worry about. Would that have anything to do with this?

Chest pain always needs to be taken seriously. That said, many causes of chest pain are not due to the heart. Physicians generally look into heart causes of chest pain, because this could be the most serious cause, not necessarily the most common cause.
I would recommend you see either your primary physician or seek the opinion of a cardiologist.
