mitral valve regurgitation-not feeling well

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu May 23, 2002 11:58 am

I am a 32 year old female. I went into E.R. a week ago with chest pain and shortness of breath. They did an EKG and said it looked okay. They also did a chest Xray which also looked fine. I followed up 2 days later with my primary because I still did not feel right. She ordered an echocardiogram. Two days later I went into ER again with chest pain and they did a chest cat scan and said that was okay. They also said the results of the echo were not available yet. Now one week later, my doctor's office called last night and said my echocardiogram came back with a problem showing. They said mitral valve regurgitation and said I need to see a cardiologist I asked if they could explain what that is and she said no-"that is why you need to see a cardiologist". I have looked up info this morning on it and see what it is, but the problem is that I am feeling more and more short of breath and just not well at all. They have not called with an appointment (it took them a week to read the echo!) I feel they haven't been taking me seriously because of my age. I am really worried, because I feel worse every day. Should I be pushing hard for someone to see me now? With it being Thursday and almost a holiday weekend-how long should I wait? The pain, shortness of breath, and not feeling well have not stopped at all in a week (so you know-they did do blood workup looking for anything else also) Thank you-Kemusk
