Woke up hurting

Post a new topicby giveiturbest on Thu Jul 03, 2008 9:48 am

This morning I could barely get out of bed. I woke up and my chest was in a pain I have never felt before? Deep breaths hurt but only towards the end of the breath (once my lungs are almost full). I am a pretty active 21 year old and have never had this feeling. I have been moving around trying to stretch it out, but if I move in the wrong way I feel the same pain as if I was taking a deep breath. I'm not sweating, no headache, and no other pains so far, but this is really bothering me. I have never had any problems with my health. Is this just a pain that will go away or should I go into see my doctor?

It sounds more related to muscular strain or some form of connective tissue inflammation. Muscular strains should dissipate after a few days but a tendonitis can take longer. There are other considerations like pleurisy, rib fractures, etc.... Use common sense and if it continues or worsens get it medically evaluated. Even if it is nothing more than a muscle injury they can still give you some directions and/or medications to help you manage the problem. There's nothing like an exquisite pain in the chest to punctuate how little we think about the ease of routine breathing.
