Congestive Heart Failure

My mother is 80 and we were just told she has CHF. She has always had breathing problems,but has always been very active. She has lived alone on her little farm taking care of her animals until now. She was released from the hospital yesterday and is now living with my brother. I am afraid that her will to live might diminish because of not being in her own place and taking care of her animals. The doctor said that she could live 5 years or more like this. Or that she might not. I don't always trust what all doctors tell me. What if anything can be done besides or in addition to medication that she is on can be done. I have no idea exactly what medications she is on. I do know that they told my brother she is to have a low sodium diet.
