Post care after stent insertion/ angioplasty

Post a new topicby mehraani on Wed Feb 18, 2009 6:33 pm

Hi

I've just had a stent put in after suffering from angina pectoris. I had a quadruple bypass 14 years back so I guess the blockage was due to happen anyday.

My query is how much can I excercise after the stent procedure ?

I did 2.5 kms on the treadmill at an easy pace 2 days after the procedure, then followed it up with a 5.3 km treadmill stint at a slightly faster pace.

After 5 days, i played 9 holes of golf and followed that up with a good 7 km cardio workout burning 450 caloris in 55 minutes.

I did not suffer any chest pains - reathing was normal and the heart rate went up to a max of 65% (could be due to the beta blocker !!!)

I am due to go for a stress test after another 5 days which will decide my fate.

There is partial discloration at the groin due to the insertion of the sheath - other than that - no pain

Can I continue to excerise at this pace without causing damage ??

Please kindly let me know

cheers
