Slient Heart attack

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Aug 24, 2002 8:36 pm

My Mother is 72 years. She is diabetic, hypertensive, and has been bleeding from holes (too many to count) in her upper bowel. She is severely anemic and takes Procrit to encourage faster blood making. To compound all this her kidneys have been failing and will need to go on dialius in a few years.
Last week her doctor said her heart was irregular, and sent her for EKG. Ekg showed she had recently suffered from a heart attack. Her only sytem was labored breatheing for about one week before her doctor apointment. Now the Doctors have her on Cumidin, and I am VERY worried, as I understand this is a blood thinning agent. She is already bleeding to death, and seems like this is a poor way to solve her heart attack problem. (The doctors also did an ultra sound of her lungs and found them to be surrounded by fluid.)
All this sounds very onimus, I was wondering if there are other drugs or treatments that are advisable in her situation? I am aware that the doctors are between a rock and a hard place, and that things don't look good for Mom, but I can't help but think that somewhere, someone has been studying this kind of problem, and might have some valuable advice for us. Thanks...
