higher BP

Post a new topicby Mizunogirl on Mon Nov 12, 2007 5:49 am

Several years ago, I discovered I had High Blood Pressure I checked it daily for weeks andwent to my MD armed with the readings. I fully expected him to put me on a medication, but instead he told me to lose 10 pounds.
I decided to do that, and I actually lost about 45 pounds. My BP dropped to about 90/55. Unfortunately I had an accident requiring surgery and I regained about 20 pounds and my BP again increased to about 140/85. I have no symptoms, I am very active (hoping to lose the weight again) and am training for a half Marathon now. I am just curious if I should be taking a medication for the time being until I lose the 20 pounds again??
Incidently my pulse is a whopping 54. Hopefully the combo won't be problematical...
Any advice?
