hyperaldosteronism

Post a new topicby 85emt24 on Mon Feb 09, 2009 9:33 pm

I am a 40-year old female with a family history of hypertension My mother had high BP as do two of my three brothers, my sister, and myself. I have been on accupril, paxil, and spironolactone for approximately 12 years now. Recently I have developed blurred vision (especially when I wear my contacts) and headaches. My siblings are all on CPAP machines for sleep apnea. I recently attended our state's EMS convention where I attended a presentation about renal insufficiencies. During the talk the presenter mentioned that insufficient amounts of renin in the kidneys could cause high blood pressure I went on the Internet and came across a condition called hyperaldosteroism. Does anyone know anything about these two subjects (sleep apnea and hyperaldosteronism)? Any information would be appreciated.
