Statins

I've read a lot about the benefits of the statins, cholesterol lowering drugs. Assuming one has no liver problems, should I ask my doctor for a prescription even though I have normal cholesterol?

Statins have other complications including breakdown of muscle that could possibly lead to kidney failure.
Unless you have elevated cholesterol levels (especially LDL cholesterol) a statin would not be indicated.
