CONFUSED.....

Post a new topicby RRICHCREEK on Thu Sep 20, 2007 9:34 pm

I AM A 37 YEAR OLD LADY WHO HAS BEEN HAVING SOME CHEST PAIN WITH SOB FOR THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS NOW. THE DOC DID A STRESS ECHO, LUNG FUNCTION TESTING, AND AN ECHOCARDIOGRAM. WE WENT OVER THE ECHO TODAY AND HE SAID THE REPORT CAME NORMAL. AFTER CAREFULLY READING THEM WITH HIM, WE FOUND THAT THE DOCTOR INTERPRETTING THE REPORT FOUND SOME MITRAL REGURGITATION, AS WELL AS MILD TRICUSPID REGURIGITATION. THE PRIMARY DOC SAID OH THIS ISNT A BIG DEAL....PRETTY NORMAL AND DISMISSED IT. MY QUESTION IS WITH THE SYMPTOMS I HAVE...CHEST PAIN, SOB, FATIGUE, TROUBLE BREATHING AFTER EXERTION, TROUBLE SLEEPING....IS THIS ISSUE REALLY NO BIG DEAL OR SHOULD I PERSUE IT??? ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED....
THANK YOU

If the Echo report is correct than mild regurgiation of any valve does not cause SOB. I am not sure if it clarified weather you have mitral valve prolapse or not. You can check about this your physician.

But if you have exertional symtpoms and recurrent, than have regular follow up with your physician. Having second opinion is not a bad idea.

A second opinion is always a good idea, I mean it is your heart not your big toe! I am 43 and have moderate Mitral Regurgitation. I have some mild chest pain infrequently, lots of palpitations and unfortunately panic attacks. There is some correlation between panic disorder and MVP regurgitation. Some of your symptoms may be related to anxiety. SOB, heaviness in the chest, pain, etc. can all be anxiety. Anxiety disorder is very REAL, the symptoms can be life changing. I know because I have suffered with both MVP Regurg and Anxiety for years! No it is not all in your head either. The symptoms are very real and can be very frightening. I would be happy to start a dialog with you as I feel I have lots of good positive advice to give. You are not alone!

Hello, I'm a 28 year old female and I was told a few months ago that I have MVP Regurgitation. I'm currently in the process of getting a second opinion because I didn't like the last doctor for he isn't the one who even told me about my MVP R it was the ladie you actually did the each test. The doctor never called me back and I just didn't feel good with him. I have a appt on May 2nd to follow up. I regular have chest pains and I have plenty of palpitations. It's the palpitations that I can't stand. I've also been having anxiety which could come with the worry of all of this.

I agree with all of you, a second opinion is always a great thing to have. It's your HEART! It's a big deal.

I have so many questions about it! I also have narcolepsy and I wonder if it is caused by my MVP Regurgitation?

?????
