Exercise with Mitral ReguritationWhat can you tell me about Aerobic Exercise and Mitral Regurgitation?
This is my situation: Hi, I am a 48 year old Woman thats has Mitral Valve Prolapse, with severe Mitral Reguritation of the Mitral Valve. (a little leaking in other valves) I'm doing fine. My heart is normal in size. I'm on 50 atenonol and 20 accupril a day. i have an echo cardiogram once a year. I see my doctor 2 times a year. My heart doctor says I'm one of his healthist patients. I was told I'm allowed to exercise. He said its a good idea to lose a few pounds. That its healthier. I'm 5'6" and currently 142 pounds. I'd like to lose about 8-10 pounds more. It took me like 7 weeks to lose 3 pounds. Becasue I was building muscle. Which slow is healthier. I recently started doing cardio with weights. Lite weights. I know my blood pressure medications keep my heart rate down. Am I going to lose the benefit of Aerobic exercise if I can't reach the heart rate I'm supposed to?
