I have been dealing with pericarditis since May. Actually, I believe I had a first episode in March when I woke up with very severe chest pain radiating through to my back. It quickly progressed to vomiting, fever and aches. I thought I had the “flu”. A few days later I was completely recovered.
In May I began having shortness of breath and chest pain when walking for exercise. Went to the doctor, had cardiac workup and the ultrasound revealed a small pericarditis Was treated with ...Read the full article

I have joined this forum as my hubby has been confirmed last week to having chronic pericarditis.
All the main symptoms are so extremely classic with him. When I read in this post treatment with aspirin and colchesine. My husband does take daily baby aspirin for his heart and I simply wanted to share that years ago he was put on the colchesine for " Pulmonary fibrosis" --He has so many health issues that the only time he is given steroids is in true illness! The colchesine was helpful for a few years. Then we moved and next cardiologist did not have same opinion. Please keep us up to date on your progress...as if the colchesine helps you - then perhaps we can talk to our Dr. about it. Thanks

I can remember mine starting with exercise and having chest pain, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations. I'd lean forward and the chest pain would dissipate. So I'd continue thinking it wasn't anything serious. Maybe indigestion? It happened with mowing the lawn too and I'd stop, lean over and it was gone.

I didn't get the very severe, sharp chest pain until September 27, 8 months after the first symptoms appeared.

What is COPE?

My cardiologist tried Colchicine and Ibuprofen on me and I couldn't stomach the Colchicine. So now it's just the Ibuprofen and that seems to be working after 6 days on it.
