Pericarditis and myocarditis...help!!

Post a new topicby bluey on Wed Jun 11, 2008 4:18 am

My problem has been going on for approximately ten months. Spent some considerable
time under an endocrinologist, consult with neurologist and cardiologist etc. as secondary hypertension was suspected because of an adrenal adenoma. BP was high and I was having constant chest pain and racing heart around 3.00am in the morning, happening every night. Numerous tests and hospital stays resulted in no result.
Angiogram was clear. ECG's always showed first degree heart block. Was placed on beta blocker
which made the condition worse. Taken off that and put on calcium channel blocker. After
being on this for some time arrythmia during the night episodes got worse. Taken off that.
Then had echocardiogram which showed no result. Got to a point where I could not even walk 50 yards. Severe breathlessness, pain, sweating, BP spikes, fainting etc. Constant trips to ER with severe chest pain
Then was told I had pericarditis and some myocarditis, put on Proxen SR and Nexium and sent home.
At this time the ECG's have showed typical Pericarditis pattern.
Have been on NSAIDS now for over two months and while I improved a lot at the beginning in that I could finally breathe easier, am finding now I have irritation I think from the Proxen SR. Still having very bad chest pain which can start for no reason.
Have never had a heart MRI but have a cardiologist lined up for end of July.
Am told there is no reason for this condition showing other than possible costachrondritis.
I find if I do too much during the day (being an active person) arrythmia at night is worse.
Went through a lot of being told it was in my mind and there was nothing wrong with me.
Had some abnormal metabolism results and high noradrenaline levels.
Should I be seeing some improvement after this time on anti inflammatories and should I keep on with them if I am having stomach irritation? Any advice from others with this would help. Thanks
