My father-in-law had a sub-dural hematoma last October w/subsequent surgery in December to drain the fluid build up. In January & February he lost his vision in one eye for a short period of time. He was taken to the hospital both times even though he figured since his vision came back he did not need to go to ER. He has come away from this w/weakness on his right side of his arm/hand & leg. He uses a walker when he goes for long walks (at least 1 mile) & uses a cane (sometimes) when walking around the grocery store. He would not take PT so I downloaded some exercises for him to do at home, he uses his treadmill & he does all this in the morning as he gets tired easily in the afternoon. He is not driving, much to his dismay & his wife does not drive...he may be able to drive come August. Although he is making strides in his exercise we still see the weakness & wonder if driving would be such a good idea. He also has issues w/expressing himself at times...cannot find the words..thought process just not as good. He only sees a Family Physician & not a neurologist which concerns us. We are worried whether he should even begin to drive by August should he not have another TIA? Anyone have any thoughts on this?
