Re: a fib straight for 14 days so farHi I'm 36, and have not had an episode for almost 2 years. My first and last episode was in May of 2006, I was 7 months pregnant and my heart rate was 180. It started when my husband and I were playing a very short game of tag. I thought that maybe I just got a little to excited so I went down for a nap and woke up breathless and scared. I went to the hospital and three days later after bed rest and medications they shocked my heart back into shape. They couldn't figure out what started it and since then I only have little flutters that last seconds that my doctor says happen to many people who are may be dehydrated. During my stay at the hospital they told me about another pregnant woman who had the same problem, but she had been living with it for 2 YEARS! It did damage her heart. It caused it to enlarge and she as a result of ignoring her heart rate now has to be treated for heart failure. So it is possible to have a fib for long periods of time, but it only damages the heart beyond repair, or so I was told.
Hope this helps.
