Atrial Fibrillation

I have had AF constant for 4 months after 2 years of intermittant. I have been on Coumadin for 2 yrs.
I went in for a cardioversion, they did a Trans esophageal echcocardiogram first and found a clot in the L atrial appendage and hence couldn't do the cardioversion. They repeated the study in 8 weeks on continued anticoagulation and it is still there. I also have mitral rugurgitation and you are not suspose to get clots with MR. Has anyone had this problem?
